What is root?

WHAT IS ROOTING AN ANDROID PHONE

Hey guys.Ever came across the term called rooting.. Well !we shall discuss about root and also about its pros and cons here..

Android is an operating system, which allows us to do many tweaks from themes to templates and boot to backup. You can customize like anything and also it is user friendly.

  WHAT IS ROOT ACTUALLY?

Technically rooting is a process where you bypass android security system in order to attain root access.

In simple words rooting transforms smartphones into ultrasmart phones. With root access you are given opportunity to make certain tweaks with your phone which you never even thought it is possible. Note that there are also some risk factors involved in rooting( which you will know later)

Now sit back and enjoy reading astonishing things done through rooting.

THINGS THAT CAN BE ONLY DONE IN A ROOTED PHONE :

* The main reason why people root their phone is to install custom ROMs . Custom ROMs are built for speed, performance and also it offers maximum customization for the users. You can customize each and every corner of your smartphone. Some ROMs are built for speed where as some are built to reduce battery consumption. The most famous among custom ROMs is 'cyanogenMod ROMs'.

* You can uninstall system apps(or pre-installed apps) from your phone. Yes! You heard it right! if you have root access, no one can stop you from uninstalling useless system apps from phone. It also reduces memory consumption by which you can make room for new apps.

* You can overclock the working of chipset in android. Overclocking is the process of providing a extra push on the processors which makes them work faster then normal clock frequency. But note that it is not advisable for beginners in android rooting as it demands much knowledge.

* Think you made a very good progress in some game and you had to uninstall it for some causes. Next time when you reinstall it, what if you get all your progress back and continue the game from where you left while Uninstalling it. Yeah that is possible to keep backup for the whole data of any app using root access.

* Ever deleted a photo unknowingly? You can definitely get it back through root. Through Root access you can scan for the deleted photos. Rooting have the potential to display deleted photos even if the memory card is formated.

* With root you can even change boot animations (the animation which you see while rebooting or switching on your device).

* Bored of collecting coins in a game? Well, you can have desired number of coins, powerups, levels and lot more by hacking the data of the game. (note that you cant hack online games as the game data is stored in the server). And hacking in a rooted phone is damn easy, you can hack even social sites easily !

* You can change the IMEI number (International Mobile Equipment Identity)  which is used for the identification of your phone. You can even place your desired IMEI number through root.

* You even get the freedom to change DPI (dots per inch) of your smartphone which enhances your screen resolution. And yes, you can change the appearance of status bar and even lock screen appearance !

* You can increase your RAM by swapping memory from sdcard. This will make your phone work faster and ready for high multitasking.

* As many apps run in your background without your knowledge, they drain your battery. But with root access You can stop background apps and extend your battery life.

* When you install any app it records your IMEI number, gmail ID, android ID, IP address from your phone and sends it to the server. Well, with root access you can send fake identification details of your device which makes you stay anonymous.

* You can even change the Mac address of your android which is not an easy task without root.

* You might have seen yellow triangle 🔺 while rebooting your phone (in most of Samsung devices). With root access you can remove those triangles permanently.

* Through root access you can record live screen videos of your smartphone. You can even record audio along with it.

* Ever wanted to play games in slow motion?

Well, with root access you can play games in slow or fast motion in order to score good in games which demands high reflex action along with concentration.

* You must know that few apps are restricted to move to SD card (for eg. WhatsApp), so they have to be in internal storage itself. This will eat up much of your internal storage. And if your internal storage isn't free even though if you have much space in SD card you can't download apps from play store. You can even move such apps to SD card by rooting your phone.

And many more....These are just silly things you can do in a rooted android phone. There are lot many thing which  can be done, which I can't tell and wind up here.

DISADVANTAGES:

Also there are few disadvantages here which are negligible to that of advantages of rooting.

The main thing here which you have to note is you void your warranty after rooting. And also you need to have little knowledge about rooting. Just read all the instructions while rooting because wrong method of rooting can brick your phone or even your phone may goto bootloop( repeated execution of boot/rebooting)

Remember that rooting is not illegal but after if  you mess up with your phone and brick it, the manufacturer is not going to accept your phone even if it is within the warrenty period (there are some exceptions) .

If your phone goes into bootloop nothing can be done other then moving it to a nearby service center .

However there are many unrooting tools by which you can unroot your android phone anytime.

You may get the doubt that why the phone comes unrooted from the company. Well the answer is simple. Google takes security seriously and rooting doesn't actually break the rules but it do bends it.

As your os is compromised for modifications there is also a possibility of virus attack which can steal your personal details (i:e while net banking) . But you can easily avoid it through managing the root permissions .

We advice you to root your android only if you have a specific cause or interested in experimenting with android at your own risk ( as we do).
